A gift was
bestowed on me for 2010. Directing the 26th
Annual Central Coast Writers’ Conference at Cuesta College
is an exciting adventure into the world of accomplished
authors, agents and publishers. The first thing I recognized
was how respected the conference is within the industry –
nationally as I’ve invited the faculty for the 2010
conference and locally with SLO NightWriters, Sisters in
Crime, Cal Poly and the SLO Library System and Foundation.
For 25 years
it has been a conference where notable representatives are
eager to share their time and expertise. And it is an
affordable conference for you, the writer, to enhance or
discover new skills and network with the very people who can
move you to the ultimate goal – publication. I believe we
have assembled a faculty and program for 2010 that will
continue the rich tradition at Cuesta College.
I’m excited to
announce the 2010 keynoter is Nathan Bransford, an
Agent based at the San Francisco office of Curtis Brown,
Ltd. He is also an author and popular Blogger. Highly
recommended, Nathan might just be the most informative and
certainly the most positive representative to write a
regular Blog about our industry.
Furthermore,
the faculty assembled compliments his diverse expertise and
author-friendly attitude. Check the website and Facebook to
read more about Nathan and Kevin Clark,
Charlotte Cook, Kathleen Duey, Dr. Kate Gale,
Paula Huston, Laurie King, Merrily Kutner,
Diane LeBow, Jon James Miller, Marcia K. Preston, Melissa Pritchard, Diane
Lindsey Reeves, Victoria Zackheim.
Welcome to our
newest sponsor Chevron North American Exploration &
Production Company. And the Inn at Morro Bay will
host our faculty and offer an attractive rate for our
conference attendees. Many thanks to
Novel Experience of SLO,
the official on-site bookstore for many years and to
Coalesce Book Store & Chapel of Morro
Bay for hosting the after-conference invitational
sponsored by SLO NightWriters.
I must also thank
Cathe Olson,
who has been my guide as we prepare for the September 17-18
event. Make sure you calendar the date and register as soon
as we post registration. And while you are calendaring the
conference mark down September 19. We will collaborate again
with the SLO Library Foundation Book and Authors Festival in
Mission Plaza.
