Biographies
Bea, Jaime
& English, Ted
-
Jaime Bea, President of SLO Rowing
Club, rowed four years at University of California at San
Diego, and coached San Diego State and Cal Poly- San Luis
Obispo women's crews. Ted English, a founding member of SLO
Rowing Club, is a former member of the Argonaut Rowing Club,
Toronto, Canada, and Long Beach Rowing Association, Long
Beach, California. Ted's family rowing history goes back to
the 1830's in Canada.
Duffy,
Eoin - Eoin
Duffy has been sailing since 1968. He is an
American Sailing Association Certified Instructor and has
taught sailing and navigation at the California Sailing
Academy in Marina del Rey and in Europe at Les Glenans, the
French based sailing school. He has also raced at the club,
and at the
national and international level in Ireland and Great Britain
and has extensive cruising experience as
well.
Goughnour,
Alisa -
Alisa
Goughnour was fitness certified in 1984 and
currently teaches at Cal Poly. Alisa has taught Cuesta
College Academic classes and Cuesta Community Programs
classes since 1994.
Hayes, Jason
- Currently one of the golf
professionals at Sea Pines Golf Resort,
Jason Hayes has been a dedicated
player for 24 years. He has been a member of the PGA Golf
Professional Training Program for 6 years and continues the
program to improve his teaching techniques.
Kidd, Sara -
Sara Kidd has been involved in the
sport of Volleyball all her life. She played 4 years for
Taft High School and 2 years with Cuesta College.
Li, Lin - Lin Li
has been practicing Chinese Internal Martial Arts, including
Tai Chi and Pa Ku Chang, since 1998 in China and teaching in
the US since 2005. He holds an M.S. degree in Education
(Recreation Therapy) from Southern Illinois University.
Mascia, Davide
- Davide
Mascia is a dedicated international
tennis player, professional, and coach for the last 25
years. He currently holds the title of PTR Professional 1,
the highest teaching category for this professional
association. Mr. Mascia has coached several
international and US players from this area over the last 8
years and is
sponsored by Head Tennis.
Nystrom,
Roche - Roche
Nystrom has been coordinating the popular
youth volleyball camps for several years.
She has been a
member of the Cuesta College volleyball coaching staff since
1984, serving as assistant coach before taking over head
coaching duties in 1993. Roche has lead Cuesta College to four
Western State Conference titles in her tenure. Roche earned
her undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Fresno
State in 1984 and completed her Master's degree at nearby Cal
Poly.
Robinson, Michael
- Mike Z. Robinson is
a Personal Trainer at Club 24 in San Luis Obispo where his
clients include numerous individuals from many walks of
life. Mike is certified by the American Council on Exercise
(ACE), is Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, a member of
IDEA fitness organization and he is also a graduate of
Sonoma State University.
 Setting,
Gary -
Gary
Setting is the Owner and General Manager of Sea Pines Golf
Resort. He has actively been involved in running the San
Luis Obispo Jr. Golf Association for many of the past
several years. Many campers who have attended these summer
golf camps have gone on to play quality golf including
participation on high school and college golf teams. All
instruction at Sea Pines at other facilities is overseen
and/or conducted by quality PGA teaching professionals.
Unks, Sally
- Sally
Unks
is a certified group
exercise instructor with the Aerobics and Fitness
Association of America (AFAA) and holds 2 certifications
with Zumba Fitness. She has been
dancing for 25 years and teaching aerobic, strength, and
dance classes since 2006.
Wheaton,
John - John
Wheaton has been a dance professional for a
decade and a half traveling around the U.S. as a Dance
Judge, Teacher, or MC at various dance conventions, contests,
and workshops. In 1995 he was elected to the Advisory Board of the Golden State Dance Teachers
Association. In 1999 he was elected to the Board of Governors
of the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame.
John is also the event director of the Monterey Swingfest,
Jack & Jill O'Rama in Anaheim and the Halloween Swingthing
in Irvine. * * * * * *
