Writers' Workshop
(Age 13 to 19)
Write solo or collaborate with your
peers in this writing workshop. Creative writing in any genre
supported with one-to-one editorial assistance when requested.
Class sessions will include mini-lessons on story construction,
brainstorming, writing techniques, revision and editing and
writing in groups but are primarily devoted to students having
uninterrupted writing time. Class will publish a literary
magazine of the work created by the writers in class.

Writers' Workshop
(Beg & Int)
Designed for
the beginning or intermediate writer, this workshop is a forum
where you can read your work as you develop it over the course
of the 6-week course. Writing in any genre will be considered.
Write at home and bring your work into class to read and receive
constructive, thoughtful, and kind critique by the instructor
and fellow writers. Workshop sessions may include short
exercises on dialogue, hooking the reader, story construction,
revision, editing, and organizing fiction and non-fiction
material. We will focus on the writing process over time.

Poetry Retreat at Mission San Antonio de Padua
Located on pristine land once
part of Hearst Ranch, Mission San Antonio de Padua sits
among ancient oak trees. For three days this setting will
inspire our writing about place and nature. Class fee
includes lodging (double occupancy) for 2 nights with 5

Students learn how-to present their work for publication. They
learn the forms for submissions, and how to write winning query
letters and proposals -- that catch the eye of editors and
