Advocacy and You
Participants will learn what it means to work, volunteer, or
otherwise be involved in a
501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization. Course topics will include "The difference
between Nonprofit and For-Profit Entities", "The Importance
of Volunteers", "Capacity Building", "Fundraising/Grantwriting",
"The role of a Nonprofit Board" and most importantly "How to
Get Involved!". Participants' interests and skill sets will
be evaluated to determine potential local employment or
volunteer opportunities. Participants with receive a
"Certificate of Completion" signed by the instructor on the
last day of class.
Optional: The
HOTLINE Human Service Directory (HSD) will be made available
through the instructor for a fee of $45. The HSD is an
invaluable resource for those wanting to learn about local
nonprofit organizations and their respective services.
