    Drawing Skills - All Levels
    This class has been created for those people who think they can’t draw or for those students currently taking art classes that need basic drawing skills to improve their work. Class will include three dimensional drawing, composing and drawing objects, landscape drawing and use of a sketch book. Bring pencils, eraser and paper to the first class session. Any additional materials will be discussed in class.

    Painting/Oil Painting - All Levels
    Teaches theories of color mixing and composition. Class members create a work in oil or acrylic, participate in group critiquing of projects, read on selected topics, and learn how to care for and use the tools of oil and acrylic painting.

    Learn how commercial fine jewelry is made. Students will carve wax, make a mold and cast into a sterling silver ring, file, sand and polish it into something you can be proud of.

    Sculpting in Fossil Stone
    Transform concrete into a solid work of multi-media art. Students will create a small, lightweight sculpture using various techniques and working with concrete as the main medium, but also incorporating other objects such as recycled items, glass, sea shells, found objects, or metal items. Learn how to bring life to gray concrete by adding color, texture and polished surfaces. A materials fee of $20 will be collected by the instructor at the first class session.

    Chinese Brush Painting
    Learn to do elegant brush strokes to produce beautiful Chinese painting in XEIYI (HSEIH) style. New students must come to the first day. Please arrive promptly at 8:45 am to receive beginning material and purchase supplies as necessary (Approx. $65). New students do not need art background to enjoy this exciting art form. A complete list of supplies and sources is available from the instructor. Please enroll at least 7 days prior to the class date. If enrollment is not sufficient to have the class at that time it may be cancelled. (Bring a sack lunch)

    Please bring the following things from home:
    *A roll of absorbent paper towels such as Job Squad or Viva
    *Newspapers or a piece of clean felt (at least a square yard in size)
    *Water container (a plastic bowl or other wide mouth container that holds at  least a pint.
    *White plates (2 or 3 medium size, plastic, ceramic or plasticized picnic plates will do)*Loose-leaf notebook paper (8 ½ X 11 for notes).

    Beginning Jewelry I
    Learn to solder, forge (hammer), bezel set cabochon stones, chain making and surface embellishments to make a necklace, ring and earrings, or pins that you can be proud to wear. Non-ferrous metals such as sterling silver will be used, as well as semi-precious stones. No previous jewelry experience is required but some artistic ability helps. 
    An additional fee of $60 will be collected by the instructor at the first class session for materials.

    Suminagashi (Japanese Paper Marbling)
    This unique form of paper marbling developed in Japan. Once a closely held family secret, it has traveled from the Heian Era (794-1185) to our modern day. Learn the techniques of floating inks and colors, manipulating and transferring them to papers. Uses and applications of the results will be discussed.
    Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.

    Supply list from home:
    …vat (container to hold water, preferable roasting pan size.
               New kitty litter pan works well. light color best.

    …ink (excellent grade bottled Asian ink - (available from instructor)

    Woodworking I
    This class will present the application of power and hand tools to the mills and cabinet trade and is designed to accommodate all levels of experience. Students will also examine types of woods, deal with methods of fastening, types of joints and will emphasize general power tools such as table saw, sander, chop saw and planer. Safety is taught and re-emphasized daily and techniques will be developed so safety becomes second nature. Class fee includes a $45 materials fee.

    Beginning Stained Glass
    Learn the basic skills by making a window of about 20 pieces using the copper foil method.  Many patterns will be available, including quilt square designs, scenes and abstract. Designed for beginners or those who wish to review techniques. Learn in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Use instructor’s tools during class. Ages 13 and up welcome.

    Garden Art & Mosaics
    Create interesting accents for your garden. Learn the basics of mosaic design by making a flowerpot, gazing ball, birdbath, table and more.     Chinese Calligraphy
    Learn to write Chinese characters, brush techniques, stroke order and different styles of writing will be presented. Explore experimental and "throw ink" techniques. Every student receives a work booklet to take home. Supplies (approximately $40) are available from the instructor. Students are asked to call the instructor if you plan on bringing your own ink and brushes. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.

    orchid/bamboo brush, size medium or large;
    felt 24x24 minimum, but 24x36 recommended;
