Prospectors
Mystery Rock
(Ages 6-11)
You are
going to be a Prospector (you know those people who were
always looking for gold). In this workshop you will get to
excavate for valuable gems, fascinating rocks, and some
ancient fossils. All are yours to keep. What hidden
wonders will you find? The identities of the 10 specimens
found in your Mystery Rock have been kept a secret from
you. You will experience the thrill of discovery, much as
prospectors did. You will be able to identify each one.
Your specimens are in a hard clay material the same as
prospectors found. You will have to get them out without
breaking or scratching them. That’s not that easy. You
will get an excavation tool, specimen brush, log book,
sorting trays and labels. You will, as a Prospector, record
the color, both wet and dry texture, and its ability to
float for each of the 10 specimens you dig out. Make an
educated guess with our help to whether each one is a rock,
gem, or fossil. See how good you are. You will learn from
us the exact name and classification. We give you hands-on
science...Prospectors style - fun - educational - exciting!

Chemical
Magic-Magical Microscopes-Rocks and Minerals
(Ages 6-11)
Learn to
make batteries from fruits or potatoes. Make a fantastic
crystal tree. Work with invisible ink. See the happy and
sad balls. Work with our powerful magnets. Look at our
prepared slides using our microscopes. Learn about the
different types of rocks and minerals from our interesting
rock and mineral collection. Be a chemical detective. Make
glob from glue. Use paper chromatography to separate colors.
Make dirty pennies turn clean and clean pennies turn green.
Everything will be explained to you so you can go home
having learned some interesting science. Hands-on science
is the best way to learn.

Make
It and Take It Home
(Ages 6-11)
In this
hands-on, fun, and exciting program, you will discover how
amazing science is. You will make and take home a wide
assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in
a hands-on way. Grow and take home a crystal tree. Make an
energy bead bracelet and watch as those amazing beads turn
from white to a rainbow of colors before your eyes. Build a
working electric motor. Make your own sharpie pen T-shirt
and learn some cool chemistry (student supplies a 100%
cotton T-shirt). Make your own bubbling blobs and explore
the properties of a density tube. Make silly putty—glowing
goo—green flubber and other cool projects. By the way...we
will make ice cream in our own amazing, different,
Sciensational way!

Can
You Dig It?(Ages 6-11)
Archaeology and Paleontology seem like big words to kids.
Now Sciensational Workshops for Kids makes them come alive.
Each child will partake in a simulated fossil excavation,
uncovering the different bones of a dinosaur. Each child
will then assemble the bones to form a completed
3-dimensional dinosaur to be taken home. We will bring the
excavation tools, labels and specimen bags. We will use our
geological time and fossil charts. You will make a plaster
fossil replica of an ammonite, Tyrannosaurus rex tooth or
choose from other molds. You'll identify 20-million year old
shark's teeth and see other fossil replicas such as, a cave
bear tooth, an ammonite, a Tyrannosaurus rex tooth or a
dinosaur egg etc. See and work with our rock and mineral
collection. Be a rock hound and identify different rocks and
minerals. See and hold our giant pumice rock specimen - it?s
from Mt. St. Helens.

Hover
Craft: Design Your Own Egg Drop
Car
(Ages 6-11)
Do you want to design and build things that
you create- not just a model you purchase? Well this is the
place for you. Build and keep an air powered Hover Craft.
You make it defy gravity. Once it's up and moving, then
using your creativity, control its direction.
Get
to build and take home your own car. The purpose is to
build a super car powered by more than one source of
energy. This can be one crazy looking vehicle. We provide
you with many materials for that dynamic vehicle that you
will build.
Also
get to build a Egg Drop Car. The purpose is to build a
gravity vehicle that can cushion a raw egg as the car
holding the egg is dropped from a high height. We provide
you with the material to cushion the fall. You have to be
creative. In these three challenges in one workshop, you will
learn about Laws of Motion, Energy, Air Pressure, Friction,
Lift, Speed and Acceleration.

The
All-Terrain Tracker Workshop
(Ages 7-12)
How about some land rover excitement? Build
and take home your very own All-Terrain Tracker Vehicle! It
travels the rough terrain overcoming objects in its path.
Sciensational Workshops will bring its own course for you to
conquer. Sand, stones, twigs, and balls will all be part of
the challenge. How about a timed race? You will also learn
about gears. Work in a group with your new friends as you
design a robot you can control. Build a Sumo wrestler and
be part of our battle box events.

Magnetic
Levitation for Future Transportation
(Ages 7-12)
Build
your own “futuristic Maglev” car to race and take home. In
1999 a Japanese five-car maglev train set a record of 345
miles/hour. Yours won’t go that fast, but we will have fun
building it and learning how it operates. Learn about the
relationship between magnetism and electricity. You will
also get to build a simple maglev track as well as a cool
electromagnet. Learn how motors work, as well as
generators. Build and take home the world’s simplest
motor. Make your own compass and take part in many other
magnificent magnetic activities! Yes, Sciensational
Workshops again starts with the Maglev car (magnetism -
electricity - levitation) and goes in all directions to have
fun and learn while doing hands-on activities.

Robotic
Arm Science
(Ages 7-12)
Learn
the science of robotics as you have fun building, commanding
and taking home your own 5 motor arm! With your Robotic Arm
you can command your gripper to open and close, move your
robotic wrist, elbow, base and command vertical and
horizontal reaching moves. Your robot will be equipped with
100 grams of lifting capacity. Additional features include
a search light on the gripper for night operation. With
your Robotic Arm you will have total command and visual
manipulation using the five switch wired controller. Plus,
have fun building a wide range of additional robotic designs
with the robotic building system. Participate in our robot
Olympic style challenges, robot battles and more!

Scene Investigation
(Ages 8-12)
You will be
the super science sleuths. Have fun learning about
forensics, crime scene investigations, and crime lab
chemistry as you perform as many as 15 different experiments
designed to show you just how those tricky cases are
solved. Search for the evidence, gather clues, and discover
how science can help solve a mystery. Participants
will: Dust for fingerprints, analyze handwriting, test for
blood type using simulated blood, examine hair and clothing
fibers, practice chemistry to identify mystery substances
and much more. Participants will then use their skills to
