Learn important visual techniques and drawing “tricks” while
exploring a variety of media, including painting and various art
materials. Develop artistic talent through a variety of assignments that
include shading, color and perspective. This hands-on course is fun,
creative and a little challenging but can get messy, so please
dress appropriately.

Explore rendering techniques to
create a cartoon character, to show your characters in motion, and to
duplicate your character several times. Learn to create an interesting
script and plotline for your cartoon character. We will also make
several renderings of different cartoon characters, step-by-step, to use
to make your own favorite cartoon characters. Sketching techniques to
quickly develop a drawing, both main character and background, will be
taught and applied.

This class introduces the basic
materials and techniques of drawing. Students will learn how to see and
translate their observations to drawing. Subject matter will include
both three-dimensional objects (still-life) and photographs. The basic
elements of line, shape, value, texture and color will be explored
through pencil, charcoal, pen and ink wash. In addition, students will
learn about proportion, positive and negative space, perspective and
light logic. These elements will be presented in an art-historical
context with emphasis on learning how to use a variety of materials and
techniques.

techniques down; it will not be hard to create a fabulous,
unique look for your bedroom, bath, or a space just to have
fun in! Working with art markers; you will learn to turn
cubes into chairs, couches, beds, and bookcases. We will
also have fun with actual designer fabric swatches! All of
this will enable you to make a fabulous “presentation board”
of the room of your dreams.

Enter the creative world of fashion design and experience the entire
design process: from sketching ideas to creating a finished product.
Students will start with a plain white t-shirt and learn how to use
fabrics, trims, appliqués and even fabric paint! Working in an imaginary
design company, students will create ideas for their t-shirts from fashion
drawings to the completed design! Bring a plain white t-shirt to the
first class meeting.

end of the main pool.
Pool Closures are possible. Although we try to avoid this, because of

and Aristotle. Come meet some of the greatest thinkers of the Ancient

win some arguments without getting grounded and without annoying your
friends, family and acquaintances. This popular course offers you the
opportunity to “test drive” some great speaking and debate skills in a
relaxed and guaranteed fun environment.

Classical Clues in Harry Potter

line is helpful, the reading of the books is not a prerequisite for this
course. (And, yes: having seen the movies does count.)

provides students with an opportunity to practice and develop skills in
short arc welding of sheet steels. Topics include safety, physics of
