Instructor Biographies

Goughnour, Alisa - She was fitness certified in 1984 and currently teaches at Cal Poly. Alisa has taught Cuesta College academic classes and Cuesta Community Programs classes since 1994.

Holley, Pat -  She has been nationally certified to teach group fitness water aerobics by the Aquatics Exercise Association since 1993.  She taught at a commercial fitness spa, a university recreational center, and a senior independent living facility in Florida before moving to the Central Coast in 2007. She currently teaches Aqua Fitness classes for the City of San Luis Obispo at the SLO Swim Center in Sinsheimer Park.

Minton, Coral - She has been coaching with Cuesta since 1992. She has coached diving at all levels. She was a NCAA Division II qualifier on both the 1M and 3M boards in 1985 and 1986 for Cal State Hayward and participated in US Diving’s Masters Nationals in 1998 and 2001. Coral has a BS in Business Administration from CSUH in 1986 and a MS in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2002.

Napoli, Mike - He is a graduate of Chico State.  He has been active in resort operations, as the Director of Tennis Operations and as General Manager, in Hawaii, Texas, Florida, Nevada, and California. Mike has been teaching and coaching at Cuesta since 1985.  He started teaching Aqua Aerobics in 1988 and has since taught Deep Water Aerobics, High Intensity Aerobics, and has used water aerobics as a conditioning program for athletics over his 23 yrs of coaching to great success.

Smith, Katie - Head Instructor Lifeguard, she has been a lifeguard and a swim instructor since 2000.  She has been a Head Instructor Lifeguard since 2002.  Qualifications: Currently holds certificates for American Red Cross Lifeguard & Water Safety Instructor.

Tucker, Shawn - Head Instructor Lifeguard, he has been a lifeguard and a swim instructor since 2001and has been a Heal Lifeguard since 2002.  He is an Assistant Coach of the Cuesta Men/Women’s Swim Teams and is working towards a Degree in Recreation Administration at Cal Poly. Qualifications: Currently holds certificates for American Red Cross and Ellis & Associates Lifeguard & Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
